Belle, Taylor and Tiki |
Georgia
Belle, Taylor and Tiki - Just thought I’d share
my new favorite picture of the babies with you. They got themselves
lined up in size order, all in the same position, for a nap.
Made me smile. They sure do love each other. Tiki is the little
Mom and loves to clean and take care of them both. Georgia
Belle is the major snuggler - she’s always curled up
with one of them (and she’s SO funny!! She makes us
laugh all the time!). And Taylor is just the perfect boy –
calm and loving, just really great. I still can’t believe
we have three dogs, but I can’t imagine our life without
any one of them. -Shelia |

| Luke
- My wife and I live by premise that we don't find dogs ...
they find us. Luke was no exception. When we spotted him on
PetFinder, we were not looking for another dog, but Luke was
apparently looking for us. In addition to this wonderful and
loving Bluetick Coonhound, we have two other dogs - Oliver,
who we rescued about 6 years ago from Tennessee, and Sebastian,
who has been with us for 17 1/2 years. I guess it was the
look on Luke's face in his photos. I have always said that
you can tell a dog's demeanor by looking into his eyes. As
soon as we saw him, we e-mailed Cathy Adams with JCAPL and
told her we had to have him. We went through all the paperwork,
only to find out that Luke had escaped from his foster and
was on the run in Hope Mills. We prayed for his safe return,
but in the back of our minds, we didn't have much confidence
that he would return. However, Cathy wrote us Wednesday night
to say he was back in safe hands. That following Friday, Luke
came home with us. Like I said before, we didn't find Luke,
he found us. Luke is gradually being accepted by his "siblings"
and is absolutely in love with our daughter! If you were wondering,
he has the voice of an angel and uses it often to "speak"
with my wife and me! It's amazing to watch Oliver take Luke
under his wing and show him the ropes in the Hemby household.
We are so lucky to have Luke as a member of our family, and
I think he likes the fact that he has found his "forever
home." - Tom and Sheila |

Lily gets a kiss from her cousin |
| Lily,
Bobo, Asia, Peppermint, Kit-Kat and Twizzler were
all adopted by the Cooper's over the past few years and they
are all loved very much. What's so great is how much they
love each other and how well they all get along. To be able
to bring this many dogs and cats together and raise them in
a way that they all get along so well is a real testament
to the time, love and care that all the foster parents put
into this worthy cause. Nancy and I are so thankful for the
great people working with Ulli and the JCAPL and can't say
enough about how much we respect what they are doing for all
our four-footed friends and families. - Rex Cooper |

Precious |
Precious
- Precious has been with us for eleven months and is an important
part of our family. She has fit right in and has an awesome
personality. We love her very much. Just wanted to let you
know she has a loving home. Thank you so much for her. -Ann

|

Elektra - This says it all! |
| Stormy
(gray) and Elektra (white) - The girls are fantastic
and just melted right in to our hearts, no problems or complications
ever! (Stormy did have alot of sneezing at first, but with
the vet prescribed meds, she's over that now.) They have both
gained a few healthy pounds, and have enjoyed their pampered
sessions with Curbside Clips. They tolerate their daily brushing
and insist on being where another human is in the house. Elektra
and our dog, Bailey, have become the best of friends, even
napping together. Thank you again for the opportunity to share
our home and lives with these two little girls. All our best
and many thanks to JCAPL! -Beth |

Honey |
Honey
- Honey is doing GREAT! She is just the sweetest, best cat
ever! My daughter wanted a kitten for Christmas, but when
she saw Honey, she knew the cat she wanted was right there
in the window. It took a little while for her to feel completely
comfortable, but she is Queen now. We kept our neighbors'
dogs a few weeks ago - 2 chihuahuas and a bichon, (along with
our shih tzu mix) and she just laid down in the dining room
and watched them play. She sleeps with us, she "talks"
ALL the time - especially when someone is on speakerphone
- she can't figure out where they are! She is just a joy.
My children love her, and help take care of her. I am thrilled
with the way it has worked out. -Michelle |

Scout
and Titus napping |
Scout
|

Scout and Titus |
| Scout
- We adore Scout (Fnr Flower). She is a real sweetheart, and
she gets along great with our other dog Titus. She is quite
a little character- very busy, very "talkative"
with those vocalizations of hers, very playful, and a real
cuddler. We enjoy her so much and feel so fortunate to have
found her! |

Linda
and MingMing |
| MingMing
- This is me and MingMing. MingMing was adopted in March 2009.
She loves playing with her new catfriends. -Linda |

Kyomi
and Oscar |
| Kyomi
- This is Kyomi (striped tabby) with her forever buddy Oscar
in her Forever Home. Kyomi was adopted on Valentine's Day
2009. Her new family love her very much. |

Frazier the Explorer |

Frazier |

Frazier the Innocent? |
| Frazier
- We adopted Frazier when he was only 14 weeks old. Since
then, he has grown so much and has brought much love into
our lives. He loves to play and get into things all the time.
We have definitely spoiled him. -Malia |

Bootsie |
|
Bootsie-What
a pretty girl! |
| Bootsie
- Bootsie seems to be pretty happy and has even lost a few
pounds from racing around the house! She's nice to come home
to. Recently, I was in Costa Rica for a week and had Mom stay
with her a couple of nights so she wouldn't feel abandoned.
Since I got home, she's been 'velcro kitty.' It's very sweet!
-Margaret |

Kodi and Squirt |
| Kodi
- This is Kodi all grown up! We adopted him last January when
he was just a little pup! He's doing great and he loves his
family and home. Most of all LOVES his kitty Squirt. From
the very first day we brought Kodi home they've been best
buds! Kodi found a pal with big goofy ears just like his,
that he'll never grow into! :) And that's OK, we wouldn't
have him any other way!! -Wendy |

Momo and "brother" |

Momo |

Momo chilling |
| Momo
-After reading Momo's (Frmr Romo) story on JCAPL's website,
I knew I had to add him to our family. He has adjusted quite
well to our family. He has gotten along well with our two
young children. Momo is always interested in whatever they
are doing and makes a point to be part of it. However with
our other cat, Zahn, they are not best friends, yet. I do
need to mention there has been great strides in their relationship
since day one. Momo is a joy to have. To him, everything is
a play thing including Zahn. Thank you for finding and loving
him. -Beth |

Mattie and Sammy |

That's okay, I'll be a girl for Mattie! |
| Sammy
- Thank you guys so much for all of your help in adopting
Sammy! We LOVE her (my daughter thinks he is a girl....)
So, Sammy is now short for Samantha! She has fit into our
family perfectly! I am so glad we did not go with a kitten.
Sammy loves my daughter and sleeps with her every night.
She is so laid back! She has never jumped on a counter and
is now sitting in our laps. We think she is very happy....
just like us! Thanks again! - Beth |

Hope and friend |

Hope |
Hope
- This is Hope @ Vets For Pets. She is living there and
is their blood donor dog. She has already saved 3 lives!
She is healthy and beautiful and oh so happy! She has her
own sofa section and another playmate that is loose with
her all the time, but they have run of the whole west wing!
She has been treated for HW, and her funny leg is just a
way of life for her and she's says it's OK, she's adjusted
and not in pain. Hope says thanks for finding homes for
her babies and she knew Ghost would be a stinker, she said
"He's just like his father," and then mumbled
a few more words about him, but I won't repeat that. She
said thanks for saving her too, from a certain death and
sends her love to all. |

Drifter
and Rambo |
| Drifter
and Rambo - We are in love with our new babies! They
are very playful but also very snuggly-- even Rambo! The boys
were wonderfully surprised that Santa had chosen them to care
for the kittens. A note explained that they were brothers
found by elves cold and hungry at the north pole. The elves
(you!!) named them while they lived at the toy shop but the
note said that the boys could change the names. My boys have
decided that they like the names very much and so Drifter
and Rambo it will be! Thanks for all you did to make this
possible and going well above and beyond your role as a foster
mom! The kittens are enjoying plenty of places to run and
jump. They still love to sleep together-- usually on top of
someone! I thank you for raising them into wonderful little
well socialized boys!! They are getting bigger each day! -Leslie |

Blossom and Michael |

Blossom |

Blossom and new family |
| Blossom
- Blossom came into our home from the JCAPL on April 18th
2008. I remember the first time I saw her when Larry &
Cathy Adams brought her to my job. Blossom stole my heart
the first time I laid eyes on her. She was (and still is)
an excitable little bundle of energy, and seeing her walk
around, wagging her little white tipped tail, and giving enormous
amounts of her now infamous kisses, made me fall in love.
My
husband, Mike, and I had no doubt in our mind that Blossom
was supposed to be a part of our family. However, we had previously
adopted Shadow, a feisty terrier mix, only two months prior,
and knew by adopting Blossom, that we were blatantly violating
the covenants in our subdivision and ultimately putting our
adoption at risk.
Hope
Steepe, our neighbor and vice president of our HOA was willing
to support our efforts in changing the covenants to allow
each homeowner to have more than one dog, which was the
current regulation. In light of this, I constructed a petition
to revise the covenants and Mike distributed to all the
neighbors. The response was overwhelming. Neighbors commented
on their petitions that they, too, wanted to expand their
canine family and felt restricted by the status quo. Some
neighbors were not even aware of the current rule. After
attending homeowner’s meetings and voicing our concerns,
Mike and I were able to modify the previous covenant based
on the petitions we received from members in our community.
Today,
Blossom is known in the neighborhood for her always happy-go-lucky
manner. She’s become an important part of our family
and has turned out to be a great playmate for Shadow. Her
beauty and loving personality even prompted Bob & Hope,
our neighbors, to adopt a rescue dog and even foster an
additional dog. After meeting Blossom, we couldn’t
imagine life without her. Life is pretty good. -Krystle

Maggie Mae sunbathing |

Maggie Mae |
| Maggie
Mae - We adopted "Spice Drop" now Maggie
May on 12/21/08 from PetSmart in Garner and in the last
few days she has adapted really well to our family. She
loves the dogs a little more then our 2 cats, but we'll
give them time. Maggie's favorite places are on the desk
when we are using the computer, she tries to catch the mouse,
on our bed especially cuddled up next to her "Daddy"
and in the window sill in the morning for the great sun
bathing opportunity. She is really a great little girl and
we are so glad we opened our home and our hearts to her.

Ginger |

Ginger with a treat |
| Ginger
- Ginger became a part of the Youngstrom family October 5.
She is a tan and white American foxhound /yellow lab mix born
May 24. Prior to coming to live in Wilson she was with a foster
family who took in her mom and 6 litter mates. Ginger is a
sweet girl who has already brought much life and joy to the
household. She is inquisitive, finding things in closets and
under furniture and sofa cushions, like yarn, slippers and
pencils. If the door to the garage door is open she will sneak
a sweet potato to eat. She is also a very smart girl, though
she hasn’t quite figured out that when the doorbell
rings on TV, there is no one at the front door.Ginger loves
to ride in the car to pick up the grandchildren from school,
and they look forward to playing with her when they have finished
their homework. She has been especially good for Will who
didn’t like being around dogs until he got the know
Ginger. Now he even sings songs to her. She has claimed the
backyard as her own , whether it is sitting on the deck watching
the birds, digging carrots from the garden, runing full-out
with her long legs chasing the children, chewing a stick carefully
selected from a pile of limbs, eating tomatoes from the vine
or playing in the sandbox.Ginger has learned to open the screen
door to access the porch. That lets her spend as much time
as she wants outside. She will come onto the porch to get
a drink of water and then may climb into the porch rocker
for her afternoon nap. She loves being up on top of things.
While Rick was working in the front yard, she climbed into
the garden cart to get a better view. Or she may climb onto
the table on the deck . She even sits on the back of the sofa. She
is a good companion and watch dog. Rick and Janine look forward
to her company for many years. |
.

Pretzel and new friends |

Pretzel |
| Pretzel
- HI I just wanted to send along some pics of Pretzel and
let you know she is doing great. She loves to chase my min
pins and jump around and play with them. When she gets tired,
she goes to her little bed that we got her and takes a nice
long nap. She is doing great with the potty training too.
She has had some accidents, but not nearly as many as I expected.
She also walks really well on the leash. She just needs to
be better with going in the crate, but she already worked
her way into our bed at night :) We are all very happy she
came into our lives :) Take care, and thank you again for
her!! -Diann |

Bobbie
Kat |
| Bobbie
Kat- I adopted Bobbie Kat from White Oak Petsmart
July 5th 2008. She has no tail. I want you to know she is
the best natured, sweetest cat I have ever known and so glad
she chose me. She is now almost 9 months old and she and my
5 year old grandson really love each other. -Ann |

Harvey loves his new home |

Harvey playing in his kennel |
| Harvey
- Harvey is doing well. He's gotten use to his new
home very fast. He's also learned to use the tunnel to get
to the outdoor covered kennel and now he's spending all day
there. The kennel is connected to the house by an underground
tunnel and our cats have complete access to the kennel at
all times so they can enjoy the outdoors without danger. He
comes in the house just for a few minutes to eat and to say
"hi" to everybody and then runs back to the kennel.
It looks like he really enjoys being outdoors, watching birds, taking
a sunbath, etc. He's also not trying to slip out the door
anymore because he can go outside on his own now. -Lisa |

Bria |

Bria and "sister" |
| Bria
- The first picture is Bria in HER spot on the couch. The
second picture is Bria with one of the kids doing what she
likes to do best, snuggle. Bria adopted us. She is the most
loving, easy going dog we've ever met. She adores her Dad
and follows him everywhere. She gets along great with our
alpha dog, and doesn't mind having foster doggies stay with
us. Bria is a wonderful addition to our family! -Marla |

Maggie Mae and "brother" |

Maggie Mae and "siblings" |
| Maggie
Mae - Maggie Mae is doing great. She is so wonderful
with our kids and just fits in great with our family. We are
just so happy to have her and she is getting very spoiled.
I just took these pictures of Maggie Mae playing with the
kids. You can see for yourself how good she looks. -Mona |

Shadow and "Grandpa" |

Shadow |
| Shadow
- Shadow (FNR Lexie) is doing great - still a wild child and
very entertaining. The white cat is my almost 17 year old
cat that we adopted through a rescue when he was 6 months
old in Philadelphia!!! He and Shadow have bonded like a grandpa
and grandchild. He growls at her and bats at her when she
jumps on him and attacks from out of nowhere. But then he
turns around and grooms her and they love to sleep together.
Shadow also loves the baby soft stuffed animals. She carries
them around the house in her mouth and then tosses them in
the air and chases them. I've never had a cat that would carry
things in their mouths. It is quite cute. She is also good
at catching flies and torturing our outside dog while she
attempts to catch things through the glass door. -Angela |

Mack |

Mack's new brother |
|
| Mack
- Mack (FNR McKenly) is settling in nicely with the family.
He had his first experience at the beach this weekend and
had a great time. -Elizabeth |

Mason
(cat) and Bayley |
| Mason
- Just thought you might like to see Mason in his
new home. I thinks he plans on staying, don't you? -John and
Andy |

Rudy |

Rudy napping |
|
Rudy - We think Rudy is very smart and good-natured.
He likes to be in the middle of whatever you are doing. My
husband works at home and Rudy is his assistant. He rolls
up inside his drawings, licks his computer keys, and sits
by the printer to keep watch over whatever comes out. He likes
to follow me around when I clean house - pouncing on the broom
when I sweep floors, playing in laundry warm from the dryer,
and catching any drips from the faucet. Rudy makes us laugh
everyday and we love our sweet boy. Many thanks to your organization
for resucing him and so many others. Did you know that Rudy
likes to do puzzles??? Well, he likes to lay on them anyway...
all 15 pounds of him! We love our Roo-Roo! I took him to a
Blessing of the Animals service this month... so far, no improvement
in behavior!! -Janice |

Nakeea
|
| Nakeea
- Nakeea (FNR Demon) has settled in and is doing great. His
first night he was restless but last night we all got a whole
night's sleep. I got up every two hours to let him peepee
and he didn't soil his kennel at all. His sisters love him
and Hope plays with him. We are VERY happy and I look forward
to a lifetime of love from this special dog. Thank you a million!
-Leslie and Eddie |

Fluffy
|
| Fluffy
- My husband and I recently adopted a cat from your organization.
She was located at PetsMart. Her name is Monique although
my family calls her Fluffy. She was quite shy and timid when
she first arrived at our home. For the first few days, we
had to literally pull her from under the bed to brush her
fur and her teeth. She has just begun to initiate contact
with us. She is improving tremendously with socialization
and will allow us to groom her on a daily basis. She has not
yet adjusted to the dental care yet but we hope that will
improve with time. She is a welcome addition to our home.
She had adjusted well to share a home with our birds. Thank
you for making this adoption possible. -Lisa |

Jenny |

Jenny and new canine family |
|
Jenny
- Jenny King is doing great. She has a new nickname…”Chunky
Monkey”. At the last vet appointment she weighed in
at 54 pounds….wow! Let’s just say that she eats
good and is first in line for treats. We are so happy to
have Jenny. -Cindy
"I
now have a new sister, Zena, and a new brother, Zeus. I
have been told that we all look a lot a like. We spend our
day going on adventures in the yard exploring for lizards
and playing with our neighbor doggie friends. My new mom
takes us all running everyday and then I curl up by my dad’s
feet at night. I am a very gentle and loving girl and am
so happy to be part of the King family." -Jenny

\
Louise
|
| Louise
- We changed Sally's name to Louise because we have a neighbor
named Sally and weren't sure how it would go over. But Sally
has adapted instantly to the name Louise--she is the smartest
of dogs! On the very first day, she was ringing the bell to
go outside. It took Jimmy weeks to learn that. Anyway, we
love her to bits. She's a dreamboat. -Kathy |

Otis |
| Otis
- Otis, (FNR Jesse) adopted from Petsmart in Garner. Don't
let the sleeping innocence fool you. He's a pickle! He's a
bad, bad, kitty!!! LOL The vets says that he is the most beautiful
cat they have ever seen. I tend to agree. :o) -Angel |
