North Carolina Taskforce to Abolish Animal Fighting

The goals of the North Carolina Taskforce to Abolish Animal Fighting are to:

  • Develop training modules for law enforcement, judiciaries, animal control and human agencies and investigators.
  • Develop medial and public information campaigns.
  • Establish legislative proposals and guides for prosecutors and judges to facilitate successful prosecution of animal fighting cases.
  • Create a network and protocol for animal sheltering facilities and personnel to manage seized animals.

What you can do to help:

  • Educate yourself about the cruel practice of animal fighting.
  • Report animal fighting evidence and activity to your local law enforcement and/or animals control agency!
  • Help distribute information about the cruel practice of animal fighting and find out how else you can volunteer!

The taskforce plans to:

  • Encourage cross reporting and communications among law enforcement departments, animal control officers, and humane societies within the state.
  • Provide needed training for law enforcement, prosecuting attorneys, judges, and animal care and control personnel
  • Strengthen animal fighting laws and support their enforcement.
  • Network with groups and individuals in the field.
  • Educate the public at large about the cruelties and activities inherent in animal fighting.
  • Create a network and protocol for animal facilities and personnel to manage seized animals and support those involved in the prosecution process.
