Gorgeous CLEOpatra is ready for adoption!

First things first…my eyes are truly as stunning as they are in the photo…hence my name, Cleopatra.

I was born around 4/08/10 and my foster mom brought me inside right before the really cold weather started. I am one of 5 siblings and I’m very independent. I can play by myself for hours and I’m curious like all other cats. I also like to play with the dog, she is my buddy. I’m shy around other people at first, but give me a few weeks and if I get the neck rubs and belly rubs that I’ve been getting in my foster home, I’ll love you, as much as I love it here. I don’t know how I would do around small children, I’m more of a one on one kitty. Hopefully I’ll find my forever home soon, so I can show off my lovable personality.
If you are interested in adopting this cutie pie (or any other JCAPL pet), please complete an application and either email it to the adopt@jcapl.org or fax it to (919)300-5524. You may download an application here. There is no obligation by sending in an application, but we process them in the order received….
Our cat/kitten adoption fee is $105 and includes the following:

Madison and Pups at 40 Days!
Its another week of fun. Pups are definitely developing their own personalities and showing their true cuteness. For me, thankfully its just Two that some days have the potential to make 12 in their "puppy attack friskiness".

They turned 5 weeks old. They are eating from real food but I think still sneaking some mama milk in when the humans are not around. They are very social and love to be around people … they show this love by continually grabbing at the feet or legs and holding on to not let you go. Whoopsie is the kisser of the two when being held while Ohno just looks at you.

They hate the Xpen & will even be waiting by the bedroom door to come out of the room. I guess they feel they've outgrown such a playpen and being the "big pups" they are should have the whole house because their little legs take them away from there as fast as they can go. They go everywhere to check out all nooks and crannies of the house. They've met Sophie (cat) – I think though they confused her as to what they are because Sophie isn't use to meeting smaller K9. They did good & they took advantage of walking around her as she stood still like a good kitty while they checked her out.
Madison is doing a great job at teaching them their manners… and they accept as good lil babies should to their mama.

Madison and Pups (24 Days)

Madison and Pups (with eyes wide open)

Well .. let's see … All's well at the "dogwoof suite". The main event this week was the opening of the eyes.
Being that Whoopsie was the first born of the two, I guess Ohno has decided he didn't want to be last in everything so he was the first one to open his eyes. Ohno decided on Sunday (13 days old) that he's been in the dark long enough; Whoopsie decided to follow suit on Wednesday (16 days old) to check out what her lil' brother been seeing. So yep – that's the most excitement so far this week.
Ohno is starting to try to stand/walk on all legs and is doing pretty good. Whoopsie apparently is in no hurry and figures when its time to happen then so be it – she'll just one day stand up and go. Whoopsie is looking like she's trying to do dalmation imitation; her skin (not the hair itself) is getting black dots randomly appearing. As for Ohno, he's still looking like his mom for most part but then again his lil' face with the white lil' streak on his forehead sometimes causes him to look like a lil' skunk.
They will be having their "suite" remodeled in the next few days for when the pups do start to walk around and figure out a bit of independant life. In about a week or so they'll be ready to learn to start drinking out of a shallow dish and then the fun life of puppy mush & learning to eat "real food" will be happening. Thankfully mom Madison loves to keep her young uns' clean because I'm sure she'll be busy the first few times of their frollicking in their food!
Madison is still a happy dog even tho still cautious about her pups. When she's not feeling like she has to protect, she's nosing around checking things out like a lil busy body & then of course she stops for belly rubs. I also learned this week she can be a hoarder of toys. In her doggie mind she probably thinks its more of a "collector" because she puts them nicely in her doggie bed so no one plays with them – just looks at them. Its pretty cute to watch her. When I took this week's pictures, she decided she should be in the majority of them so she was. But here are one each of the babes (all I could get this round) and some of the "family".
Madison and Pups (10 days old)

Hi everyone.
The past week with Madison and babes has been good. Today the pups are 10 days old; they are doing what pups that age do — which is basically nothing but look cute, nurse on mama, sleep & "crawl" around the crate (mainly to find mama @ feeding time). And naturally they've grown a bit but it'll still be a couple weeks until their eyes open & they try to start walking. Mom is still somewhat peculiar about who comes around her babies and she'll "tell them". She is, however, letting me now touch them which is thrilling to me of course since they are so cute.
Madison is (still) doing a great mothering job. For the past 4 days she has spent a few minutes away from the room to check out what's going on outside her "hotel suite". Her favorite treats are still Bacon Strips; she turns her nose at the other types offered & they stay lying around uneaten. She's a lil' love-bug with people once she gets in the comfort zone of the person & loves to be kissed and rubbed on. She's become somewhat friends with my cat Sophie and they'll mingle around together as long as Sophie doesn't go down the hall toward babies.
Whoopsie likes to sleep – at least compared to Ohno. Ohno seems to be typical boy…it seems like he is always looking to nurse or at least just be close to his mama (true mama's boy). Both of them (probably more so Ohno) are getting quite fast at doing the worm crawl around the crate.
Meet Madison

As a rescue of animals, one of our goals is to give homeless dogs (and cats) a New life.

This would involve a new (forever) family with usually a new name and such… just everything New to them so that they can move on to the happy life they deserve.
Sometimes life will bring something new that surprises everyone. Madison, I'm sure, was just as surprised as the JCAPL group was in something else new … puppies. Yep, Madison gave birth to two babies on 10-4-10. Being that this was unexpected, they got names of the "human error" element as well as "surprise" element (for those people who don't spay & neuter to avoid this type of mishap). The firstborn (female) which is the white pup is name Whoopsie. The second born (male) resembles his mommy quite much in color/markings and is name Ohno. Mommy Madison & babies are doing fine with Madison being a sweet mommy & taking care of them as a good mommy would.
Madison has a new home, but is currently back in foster to raise her babies. The babies will be ready for adoption after 8wks old; around the first part of December. Until then, be on the look out for updates and puppy pics as they grow and start to move around.

The date for the Spayghetti Dinner is March 16th from 4-7pm at the Clayton Senior Center. One ticket will buy you a delicious heaping helping of spaghetti, garlic bread, desert and a beverage, all for a great cause!
