“This is my compnaion as I am a breast cancer survivor. I am lost without him, Please help me get Chevy back. He has a special diet and I am concerned that if someone picked him up he isn’t eating. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated. I want my Chevy home. I live in Florida.”

If you have any info, please contact help@jcapl.org

UPDATE 2/21/12:

FOUND AFTER MISSING 11 DAYS: Chevy went missing from a hotel in Kenly while the family was out to eat. They returned to their room and the door was opened and he was gone. Chevy only weighs about 1 lb. Since the owners were from Florida they looked as long as they could with no luck so they had returned to Florida.

They came back to Kenly Friday to look again. They put up flyers everywhere. A woman saw the flyers and then the family this afternoon and said she had just seen the tiny dog in a muddy field. He was hiding in an old shed. Chevy seems to be fine.

I met the family at Wilson’s ER Vet to check on the dog and to meet these people I have been talking to for the last 11 days. They are extremely happy to have their dog back especially since the woman had survived breast cancer and Chevy had been her constant companion. GREAT NEWS!! UNBELIEVABLE!!

Chevy was fairly clean but very thin so the family feels as though someone had him, and when they put up so many signs it must had made the person nervous and let him go. That is one lucky family to have found their tiny little dog in such good condition.

A February Full of Events for Furry Friends

The Johnston County Animal Protection League (JCAPL) enjoyed a prosperous year in 2011, with recording-breaking numbers in adoptions, volunteers, event earnings, donations, and rescues. We have no plans to lose momentum any time soon.

February 2012 is packed with events and opportunities for people to facilitate the safety and well-being of local cats and dogs, and help JCAPL reach its ambitious 2012 goals.

We welcome you to join us in what is going to be a spectacular year for making a difference.

About JCAPL:

The Johnston County Animal Protection League is a non-profit, all volunteer organization, dedicated to promoting animal welfare in Johnston County. We focus on advocacy, protection, humane education, and reduction of pet overpopulation through foster/adoption programs, outreach services, and community education and awareness.

JCAPL rescues, rehabilitates, spays/neuters, fosters, and adopts-out an average of 360 cats and 220 dogs each year. Our animals are often saved from shelters, found as strays, are removed from homes by authorities, or are surrendered to our organization. We provide them all the necessities and medical care, as well as a loving home which enables JCAPL to offer well-trained, socialized, and healthy dogs and cats for adoption.

Fosters are the foundation of our organization; JCAPL would not be able to operate without them. Anyone interested in fostering a dog or cat can email volunteers@jcapl.org. Or learn more about fostering and sponsoring at http://www.jcapl.org/blog/volunteer/foster-program/.

More info can be found at http://www.jcapl.org, and on FaceBook.
