Cinderella and Her Ten Lab/Rottweiler Mix Puppies

There is a sweet elderly lady who lives in Selma with her sister. Her sister's son died and left behind three dogs, a female lab named Cinderella, a male lab-mix named Jake, and a male lab named Cocoa. One of his last requests was please take care of my dogs. So they did just that and, we must add, extremely well. However, it has not been easy for them. With JCAPL's help, Jake was neutered and Cinderella was spayed.

Their house has a fenced-in yard. However, it was in need of repair, and they could not afford to have it fixed. A tree fell on the fence during Fran and tore down about 30 feet on one side. It was also down in the front (about 10 feet). They had the three dogs tied in the backyard. They had doghouses and plenty of shade.

Cinderella had a visitor one night. She had 10 beautiful lab mix puppies. We are almost certain the visitor was a Rottweiller. The puppies were adorable. Needless to say we had to find homes for these sweethearts. They were running everywhere. The sister's dilemma was keeping them in the backyard and out of the street. They did a wonderful job "fixing" the side fence. They lined up about 4 or 5 doors sideways and attached them to the fence somehow.

On Sunday, May 18, 2003, three JCAPL volunteers repaired their fence and also put up a pen for the puppies. We would like to thank Odell, Rob and Tim for repairing their fence. Cinderella, Cocoa and Jake now have a nice backyard to play in, and the puppies were safe.

JCAPL board member Jennifer Byrd gave them their first set of shots and dewormed them. As part of JCAPL's Outreach Program, JCAPL board President Ulli Mattern practiced loose leash walking, as well as not to jump, with Cinderella, Cocoa and Jake. They learned very quickly!

JCAPL made sure homes were found for all the puppies. Below are pictures of the puppies and members of the outreach project. To enlarge a picture just click on it.
